Dam i wish i didnt have to eat so much to gain weight.For some of you its about eatin less to fulfill your goal but i can assure you this is just as irrating. I just cant seem to shove enough of (good) food down my gullet to add my desired weight err....

Don't look at the scale! If you are like me, an ectomorph, hard gainer, you have a tendency to weigh yourself on a daily basis probably! Do not do this. It will drive you nuts. Just eat a good healthy diet with the emphasis on quality protein, and stay lean. Do not look to see the scale go up just for the sake of seeing it move. YOu will one day be sorry doing that, and 90% of that weight will most likely be fat. So when you go to lean down, which you one day will, you will be right back where you started. I think I mentioned to you in another post to do the gain/lean thing...that is 6 weeks or so gaining phase, followed by 2 or more weeks on a "hardening" phase to keep things in check. You will find this a good strategy that works well, and keeps from all out dieting. Lean gains do not come fast, especially the more advanced you are, the harder they come. But correct intensity in your training as well as diet will make them come.

The mirror is one of the best tools to use, if you notice positive changes, no matter how small, then you are doing something right. Don't get caught up with what the scale says.

I have to admit, I go to the gym 6 days a week, and I also have the bad bad habit of weighing myself (before and after) every workout!! I try not to do it, but i'm addicted to the scale now!!!!

A better and more effective way to keep track of your progress would be to use some bodyfat calipers. You should be able to purchase them at any health store. I got a great pair of digital calipers from DPS Nutrition.net for only 24.99 I believe, usually go for around $50.

As a fellow hardgainer, I have to admit, I weigh myself everyday, twice a day. However, I don't put much stock in day-to-day fluctuations and try to track my weight by weeks. The scale's been unusually kind these days as my appetite's been in overdrive and I've managed to overeat with almost complete impunity, putting on 7 pounds in the last 3-4 weeks with almost zero noticeable fat gain. I don't know how it's happening, but it is and I'm happy.
