Since I still have a lot of fat to lose, I am wondering if I should do the mass gains next, then go to cutting. Switch them back and forth.
I am thinking this way because if I gain more muscle it will boost my metabolism.
I am 5'5.5" Est. LBM using two different methods
1)111 2)117.5
I have been weight training for 8 weeks. Cardio is 3X week for 20-30 min. My scale weight has been fluctuating but inches are being lost. Average calories daily is 1500.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
:) Melissa

Switching might keep things interesting for you, but I would still continue to do the cardio regardless and maybe do it more often when you're cutting (4 times/week or 3 times @ 45 minutes).

It's easier to cut when you have more lean muscle..... That's a fact.
Why not follow the exercise program and watch your diet in the same time. No, don't cut down the carbs too much (you'll need the energy) but make sure of eating the right thing on the right moment (like carbs after work out and no sugar in the night time etc)
Keep on doing the cardio.

I just started the progressive gains but I also do 60 minutes cardio 5-6 times per week. I have gained a great deal of muscle in the past two weeks(since progressive gains) however have not lost scale weight. If you are trying to lose weight, you may want to up your cardio while doing the progressive gains or stay with the weight loss and definition program. Either way, yes you will loose fat.

If you cut down your total daily need for calories with 500, you'll loose around one lbs weekly. Now if you exercise hard next to the diet you'll be able to loose another lbs. Don't ever try to loose more than that, or you'll just loose water or worse, your muscle!!!

You know what you all confirmed my suspicions.
The weight fluctuation was due to that women thing. Retained some water this month for some reason. Could be the weather here.
See the first 22 lbs was easy but I was only doing cardio (20 min 3X) I did lose some LBM. Going back over my notebook... Using the Navys BF% only. Drumroll please.......................... Body fat down by 10% LBM was down by 2 after the first 22lbs. 8 weeks of weights plus cardio lost 6 more LBM back up to what it was when I originally started. WOOHOO!!!
How does this look for the next 6 weeks: Increase cardio to 30-45 min 4X week Keep avg cals at 1500 continue to do the weights like I have been. 3 sets at 12, 10 and 8.
Adjust as you see necessary. Thanks for all of your help.

Looks good but you may want to increase your calories just a bit. I am the same hieght as you and it looks like you are going to train fairly heavy by looking at you reps. You may want to up to about 1700-1800. Other than that, looks pretty good to me.

I'm going to have to agree with Lisa, 1500 seems a bit low.

Did the math and it Makes Sense. Thanks ladies. I do not want to lose any LBM. I figured the heavy reps and .8 to 1 gr protein for body weight would help me maintain until I lose more fat.
