I joined a gym at the beginning of the month and have been doing one of the ft programs (the lose weight/tone program for beginners) for two weeks now. I was approached by one of the trainers at my gym who corrected my form on some of the exercises then wanted to sell his services (in a reasonably non-pressured way).
So, since I'm sorta new at the whole weightlifting thing, is it worth the rather high financial investment in having a live person watching to make sure I'm doing things correctly and to help me get set up, or am I fine on my own? I don't feel that I need the trainer for motivation (i.e., I'm going to go anyway; I can push myself to work out hard), but it did concern me that maybe my form is bad and I'll end up hurting my knees or back or something.
Thoughts?

I noticed that you are a proffesional member. If you click on the specific exercise it will give you a demonstration of the proper form. If you feel you need to spend money on a trainer, go ahead. Or you could ask lots of questions here, and we will be glad to help!

I paid for the professional membership to get the good pictures and to be able to look at the alternatives to different exercises, and I've been using the pictures here to get a sense of the form. I think I'm doing okay, but it sort of freaked me out when the person came over yesterday and pointed out that my back was all wrong.
I could also just ditch the free weights for now (which seem more likely to allow bad form) and stick to machines, but I'm interested in learning.
