Some people suggest that we should workout before meal. I'm just wondering what's the benefit in that? I go to the gym after work and by then I'm too hungry to do any execises, so I usually have my dinner first and then workout. Is that bad? Thanks!

The best of both worlds is to do both. You need carbs in your system before you workout and you need thr protein or small normal meal afterward.

as i understand when you have blood rushing to your stomach to aid in digestion that means that there is less blood readily available to deliver oxygen to your muscles while working out. I do my best not to eat right before i work out, but have a snack to make sure i have enough energy about 30min before hitting the gym. Like Mike said though, pre and post workout meals are both important.

No argument from me but I didn't mean directly before a workout.

more or less.. have something to eat about 30- 45 min before you workout (the digestion time depends on what it is). get a liquid meal into you right after a workout in that hour window, then a regular meal later.

what about if you're doing cardio, say a 30min x-country run, and you want to lose weight? I run then stretch n shower, so I eat about 1hr after the run. Does this speed up my metabolism?
