Hi All,
Is it best to workout then eat or eat then work out I wake up at 6:45 do the treadmill, have 1/2 cup egg beater and 1/2 cup of oatmeal at 8:30 because I'm aware your body is still burning calories.
However, sometimes I take cardio classes at the gym. In that case I wake up at 8:00 and don't get home until 11:00 and then I am starving and sometimes get a stomach ache
Does anyone else have a situation like this?
PS Should I add whey protein to my oatmeal, because there are only so many days in a row you can eat egg beaters
Thanks, Nicole

dont ever let yourself get hungry! that will just take away all that you worked so hard for.
for what it's worth, this is how i eat around workout time:
-eat carbs and protein. -no more than 1 hour later, workout. -immediately after workout out, drink a shake with 2:1 carb to whey protein ratio. -2 hrs after that, eat a real whole food meal.
hope that helps.......

It is my understanding, after doing a bit of research on the topic, that you should eat frequent small meal throughout the day. As far as proteins go; it really depend on the type of protein you take. Slow release protein should be taken before working out and saving your fast release proteins (such as whey) after your workout to promote faster muscle recovery and mass.

Do you eat before your workout? In my opinion, you shouldn't do any sort of workout on an empty stomache. This is particularly true in the morning after having not eaten during your previous 8 hours of sleep. It's a great recipe for muscle loss. And muscle loss equals fewer calories burned during workouts.
