i am starting a new routine next monday and i was looking at my routine and it seems like there aren't enough exercises for each muscle group. should i add exercises to my routine to better work my muscles or is the given routine sufficient enough.

thanks

The FT routines are great guidelines. I followed them to the letter for my first 6 months. I have added to them as my abilities grew.

i have been lifting for the past several months and i want to start a strict routine. but it just seems like there arent enough exercises in my new routine to fully work my muscles. so should i add on more exercises to my routine or is the amount given sufficient enough.

well when i start that program on monday and i get done, it wont feel like i worked out. like when i lift now i usually do almost 1 hr on each muscle group and this new routine will probably take half that time. i guess my question is that will i get results from strictly following the provided FT routine.

Are you able to complete the last set easily? If not increase weight. You may certainly add reps, sets and exercises if you feel the need. After a time I needed more of everything to challange my biceps. Usually, if you are upping the weights properly, the FT routines are adequate for most folks.. I also changeup routines more frequently than FT suggests. I may lify heavy with lower reps for 4 weeks and the do 2 or 3 weeks of lighter weight higher reps to keep my muscles guessing and confused.

sounds good, i will try the routine and maybe have to do more sets or reps to work my muscles better.

thanks for all your help and i will probably be asking more questions as the weeks go on.

thanks

Increase weight before adding sets and reps. Welcome to FT .

You should try to keep your workouts to around 1 hr. or so. very much longer can be counterproductive.
