Ok I am new to the site. I am 5'10" and 335lbs My main goal is to lose weight and be healthy not so much as putting on the muscle. I know that I already have a bit of muscle as it is. I calculated my caloric intake and it is around 4200 or so calories a day:surprised:. OMG there is no way I feel that I will lose weight on this amount. I need to desperately lose weight. All these other sites say to intake about 1800 to 2000 per day. Is this amount realistic? I am confused  and if anyone can help me I would appreciate it. Well anyway hello to all and lets see where this takes me.

While 4200 might be seem high, 1800 to 2000 seems pretty low... you need to eat about six to eight small meals a day to lose weight... yes, eating more helps you lose weight... is the 4200 what the FT Nutritional Tracker suggested?

That works out to 12.5 cal per pound which by standards is at a safe level for weight loss.
12 cal per pound is the minimum that a person should cut back to.
Congratulations on deciding to support a healthy lifestyle and with exercise combined with the proper intake, you will see the inches reduce.
Good luck.

Yes that is what the calculator suggested. I do have to note that although it says around 4200 cal it also says only 55 fat grams which is quite low in ratio. (which is a good thing) So should I just go by the 12 x weight then? Also how do you get those wonderful signatures. I tried to click on them and it didnt work for me. Maybe I am just not doing it right.

I'd go with what carivan suggests....
