Whats up everyone Im a 14 year old kid and Im overweight. Many people ,partially my friend, guess eachothers weight, they guess me at 200, but the truth is, Im 220. For my age I feel scared and uneasy about what my weight should be, and I'm scared to find out. Since I now introduced myself, hopefully I will recieve tips or comments. Anyway on a brighter note I'm glad I found this site and my diet/exercise starts tomorrow may 1, so hopefully I can succeed in my journey. Don't be strangers everyone. I read your profile, it's refreshing to see someone who can look at realistic weight loss, 1-2 pounds a week. browse the specific diet and nutrition forum. Two particular threads to read there would be "grocery list for helthy eating", and "diet thread". Sitting down and going over what you eat daily would be a good starting place. Cut out all junk, fast food, soda, candy, fried foods and replace them with some healthy alternatives. From there, find your maintenance calories and start losing weight. The search feature at the bottom of the page will get you plenty of results on most basic questions, most have been discussed in detail already, it will give you the most relevant threads. Feel free to post your questions in the appropriate forum though if need be. Best of luck on your goals and welcome to FT!

Thanks for your help and I do appreciate all your ideas and I will definitly use all of them. I do have a question that I need to be answered and you seem very professional so here it goes. If or when you losed weight, I'm sure you had cravings, by ignoring the cravings of junk how long did it take to lose all interest in junkfoods? Thanks again and I hope to here your reply.

Welcome, mack...
As for me, I still get the cravings and I give in once in a while. The key being 'once in a while.' I usually have no desire to eat chips and stuff like that anymore. One of the keys is to make sure there are healthier choices around and not chips and candy.
And Big Macs just don't taste as good anymore... hehe...

It took about 1-2 weeks for me. There will still be temptations after that and if you give in you'll have to start all over. Try to not have any junk food around. I also think it depends on how much you'll get into fitness. If you're really working hard and you like how it makes you feel, you will not want to ruin it with a few moments of pleasure (junk food):)

Don't give into temptation and try and keep busy. I like to snack when watching TV, so when I get a craving and I don't have a healthy snack alternative, I get up and clean something to get my mind of of snacking. Drinking water when you feel hungry can help also. Give it a try and see what works for you. Good Luck:big_smile:

Thanks for the tips, I try drinking water when I get hungry, but 15 minutes later the cravings come back. By the way is it true only fruit is good such as apples rather than 100% apple juice with no sugar added?
