Hi
When i do bicep curls i start of with a light weight for the first set, then as i go up the sets i increase the weight and decrease the repatitions.
When i am on the last set and i am using a heavy weight (for me) i find the dumbell really hard to get up but after my biceps dont seem to hurt at all.
I think i am doing it right as i can see my biceps tensing. I keep my elbows close to my body and i dont rock my back (i keep it straight).
When i lift the weight all i can feel working is the front part of my arm (the wrist section).
Why is this????????????????
PLEASE PLESE PLEASE help
Thanks
Jon

What else do you do for your biceps?

try going slower on the negative part of the repetition, that should help.

Bicep work, though it looks really simple, is really all about form. Even watching someone it may look like they are doing it right. The elbow is the fulcrum, nothing else moves. Any swaying or anything and shoulders become immediately involved for instance, and will take all the stress off the biceps. This may seem elementary, but it is essential to bicep work, especially when just beginning.

One more thing, you mention the wrist, and this is wherein your problem mostly lies. Do not curl your wrist in when curling the weight. Keep your wrist rigid and straight in line with your forearm, then curl the weight. It takes a bit of getting used to, it is very easy to curl the wrist in, and this takes alot of stress off the biceps.

may need to go lighter.....and really concentrate on the "flex/ contraction" of the biceps. Most weither you realize it or not, use alot of the front delt in the movement.

BUy an arm blaster.....if you have the 20bucks to spend.....really works the biceps.

I know everyone mentioned many things here...but I never ever 'feel' my biceps sore after workouts or days afterward...about the only time I did was when I did 100+rep set kidding around with a friend of who could do more reps with 10 lb DBs...so in other words...I don't really go by soreness anymore...i go by strength and size gains...i go very heavy ...with some sets of 1 rep...
find what works for you...maybe 1 exercise do heavy ...like reps of 4-6....and on 2nd exercise...try high reps...maybe even grab a a light DB (5, 10, 15?) and do as many reps as you can with a minute rest between sets....do 2-3 sets of this....don't be afraid to try knew things....although the core of your lifting should still be heavy with low reps....gl

If you want pain, I recommend zottman curls. If you want DOMS, emphasizing the negative works well too.

ive only ever felt my biceps after doing a routine of seated incline db curls, Zootman curls, then hammer curls lying down on the ground YES lying down curling it up apart from that i usually never feel my biceps either.. as far as DOMS that is.. but i still make reasonable gains on biceps so i aint complaining :)

I've been asking the same thing the questions he re-asks are already answered, he IB feels he can do what he wants and if we don't like it too bad.
