hey, i am 14 years old and started weight training recently. Everywher i read it always says young people should always have supervision when lifting weights. Well, i find it very hard 2 get adult supervision, cuz my brothers are away, and my parents are usually too busy to come n watch me. Plus no-one i know even has the knowledge to be able 2 supervise me...i mean when sites say get supervision they do mean someone who's experienced, cuz what's the point of having someone supervise you who dosent know much about weight training, or how the form should be?...
I've been told how to do it - i.e keep back straight, engage abs, and exhale at the hardest bit of the excerise n inhale at the other bit, and i do my best to keep to these rules. Where i train there is a tv where i look at my reflection to make sure my back is straight, sometimes, and i engage the abdominals and i always make sure i breathe at the right times, but im worried i might not be doing it right, and somethin may go wrong if i dont have adult supervision? what should i do? please help..

well I don't know what your doing, what your goals are or anything.......so I can't help much.
But I work out on my own all the time no big deal.......you just have to reamember no one is there to help you......so don't get cocky and try and do more than you think you can.

I agree with BA, the most injuries occur when people are trying to show off and do more weight than they can handle. I've done it before, tried to box squat 495, did it, and got a hernia (possible spelling error). If you do the weight that you are meant to do, and do the form correctly, then you should be able to work out by your self and not hurt yourself.
If you want someone to watch you, do you have a personal trainer at your gym? If not I'm sure you can ask someone who's working out to keep an eye on you while they're doing their work out.

I'm 16 as well and I workout by myself. Do some research on the form of every exercise that you are going to do. After a while, you'll get the feel of the exercises and you'll just know if you're using bad form or not. Be a smart trainer. Safety first!

well my goals are just to generally become stronger and bigger.
I work out at home, so there isnt really a gym instructor than can help (plus my local gym dosent allow under-16's to use weights). Im a beginner so im startin off light, and since i work alone, i got no-one to show off 2 ;). I always stay within my limits.
I will do more research on form just to make sure..thanks for ur help.
