Hey Guys, im finding alot of great info off your forums first up, great source of insight :)
Im 17 year old male, 5'9 and 50 kg. which is apparently 12% underweight for my height. Im not bothered by my weight at all, but i am really curious s to what id look like with a few extra KG on me....i should really be 60kg apparently.
So basically, I dont know where I should be starting.......is there anyone who can help me get started on gaining weight? I have a very high metabolic rate. Also access to pro gym equipment is difficult...however....at home I do have 2 5KG dunbells, and adjustable weight set.
Also i have put in my information in the nutrition guide.......its all jumble to me...i odnt know what foods are good in calories and protien as such. my knowledge is very small on this sort of stuff
I see my brothers drinking protien drinks and stuff all the time......but im not sure about taking them myself, and also they are expensive and I cant afford to buy them!
So i need help on the first steps to gaining weight. it would be greatly appreciated!!!

Who says you should be 60Kg? Most likely that's info that originally came from a 90 year old height/weight chart that some life insurance actuaries concocted. There is no one single optimal body weight for a given height which applies to everybody. If you focus on actual physical performances goals related to physical fitness parameters (such as strength, power, cardiovascular power, cardiovascular endurance etc...), then the body weight that's most appropriate for YOU will sort itself out.
If your performance goals put more emphasis on muscular strength than on cardiovascular performance, then your body weight will likely settle in a little higher than if those priorities were reversed. Both muscular strength and cardiovascular components are essential to overall physical fitness and neither should be excluded from training protocols.
As for what to eat, well there are others on this board, who are more on top of that than myself, but read through related posts on the various forums. One that I'd particularly recommend is "protein intake" which is stickied in the Advanced Weight Training - Bodybuilding forum
