In how strength training...

I think first and foremost, Charles Poliquin, without a doubt. The man single handedly changed the way ALL of us train.

After that, defianetly Louie Simmons and Dave Tate...

For the role of sport specific training, Alwyn Cosgrove gets the award. The man is a genious when it comes to conditioning. Although much of what he says could be taken as cutting edge (although most of it has a background), it ALWAYS MAKES SENSE. The man speaks from experiance, and technical expertise.

Now, for opening my eyes to the world of strength training, and steering me away from the bodybuilding workouts that all my friends use without any results, I have to thank Matt DeLancey. I don't know if you realize this or not Matt, but I came to this site over a year ago. You steered me in the right direction, towards the mounds of literature compiled by the westside crew, to the studies being conducted by poliquin, to a whole new world. You showed me a world I didn't think was possible (to be strong without "bodybuilding") and I was hooked. Over the past year and a half, I have been reading everynight for well over 4 hours a night, elitefts.com, books by poliquin, siff, cosgrove, defranco, waterbury, thibedeau, physiology journals, studies from people fresh out of grad school, science and medicine journals, the list goes on and on. Without you, I would still be blindly asking questions without any idea of how to think on my own. I now know enough to usually figure out the answer on my own, and if not, I know where to look. Thank you.

My first influence was the great Arnold. With out his movies I would never have been intrested in weightlifting. Second was my great friend Ken Kempsey. I met him at the college dorm cafteria we worked at. I was already lifting but he took me to the free weight area(yeah Mutt started on the machines). Over that semester I went from a 95 lb bench and flabby 14 inch arms to a 135lb max and 17 inch arms. I now have many people that influence me. Most are strongmen compertitors. And a group off of deepsquatter.com
These guys are liftin large and it just impresses the hell out of me to watch their videos.

That said, one thing that really motivates me is you guys. I iwll be dammed if you all lift heavier than me LOL.
Thnaks again!

Thank you for the feedback wrestler. My greatest two influences have been my old high school wrestling coach and Jim Roney. I interned under Roney at the University of Richmond and he turned me to the darkside.

I have been influenced by a multitude of things, people, and places. This website among with its many members have been tremendous help. Gator, wrestler, Andrew, mutt, and some others all helped me discover something new each time. Deepsquatter website, bodybuilding magazines, many nutrition sites, and many other places. I take something new and add it to my workouts/nutrition. I have been influenced by different types of training but I don't necessarily do any one in particular.
