Now i know of one of you who was a medic in the past but I have to ask the views of this. My sister and many friends are suggesting that I file suit against this person.
Recently, two weeks ago, my daughter called me and let me know that my uncle (76 years old) wasn't feeling well so I headed home immediately. I drove up and there was an ambulance and fire engines in my driveway so i ran up to the front door, didn't even get my foot in the door when a medic stopped me and said I couldn't go in. I told him i lived there and that i want to know how my uncle was doing, i heard my daughter crying not two feet away from my uncle as several medics were attending to him. She is only 13 years old so I went to step in and the medic literally pushed me out the door, very hard mind you, and i slammed into the wall trying to brace it to keep from hitting my head on it. I blew it a little and was like "what the hell are you doing?" he then grabbed my head and knocked it against the wall for no reason. I wasn't yelling, wasn't causing a commotion, i was trying to motion my daughter out so I could comfort her and this idiot just went off on me. I have never, ever had that happen in my life. One of the other medics came out and i explained to him that I wanted my daughter out of there so she wouldn't see anything I could avoid, i also wanted to know what was wrong with my uncle. He apologized for this other guy and explained everything that happened. To say now, my uncle was okay, he had had a sever anxiety attack which had disguised itself as a heart attack. The police came and the medic who assaulted me went up and whispered something to one cop and from that moment I kid you not, the officer was rude and dismissive to me. To make matters worse, i got my daughter and went to the hospital where they took my uncle, after finding out that he was okay, the doctor took a look at me and asked what happenend. He checked me and found out the medic broke my hand and fractured my cheek bone. I didn't realize it was that bad, i was more concerned about my uncle at the time and pissed off at the dude. So i had a black eye, chipped cheek bone and now a broken hand all right before starting my new job as General Manager. I haven't filed suit although my friend took pictures of me and lots of people are saying I should file one against the medic. What I want to know is, when is the right and wrong time for a person in uniform to handle someone that way? I could see if I went off the rocker and got all crazy, making a scene, but it was nothing at all like that. I feel a bit violated and have lost a sense of trust that someone like that could be attending to me and treating my family in that manner, what if it had been one of my daughters who couldn't have had as much emotional control as I. Just very disturbed and not sure what to do. I am a total believer in Charma and what goes around comes around, but am truly lost on this subject and situation. -------------- Bettia.... There is no right time to be handled that way unless you are a threat to society. You should make a police report immediately. But that only me. Good luck Bettia hope it all turns well for you.-------------- Scales are for dead weight: We are not dead yet! Still trying to find out how to do the Hollywood Free Press. Ivan Montreal Canada |

I was in EMS for years, emotions run high people get excited and upset in emergency situations. Regardless, you should not have been treated that way especially with your minor child in the middle of the situation.
That was assault, follow Carivans suggestion, file the police report soon. Start building a file, document everything, keep are running log from the events of that day (perhaps obtain copies of hospital records of your injuries, the patient care report from your Uncle as it will verify the date time and the identity of the responders) Maybe think about obtaining some legal advice too. I hope everything works out... Iain -------------- The whole of science is nothing more than a refinement of everyday thinking. Albert Einstein (1879–1955) |

Sue the bastard! OMG...black eye, chipped cheek bone and broken hand...that's a major assault! He had no right to assault you regardless of the situation. Take action immediately by filing a police report. I'd also seek some advice from some women's assault clinic, because you obviously are feeling anxiety over this, and rightfully so!!! I can't believe this happened to you, it is appalling. Act quickly!

I agree with everyone above...then when you're done with him "legally", then post his name and address and we'll finish him off!

In addition, depending on the jurisdiction the police department may also have a victim services support unit RavenBeauty can contact to help with the feelings after an event like that. That is a total disgrace!!I'm sure you're in shock and it hasn't quite sunk in that this is an actionable crime.I hope you go after him,and the company he works for.In the very least this person needs to lose their job...I hate to think someone like this is showing up in the event of an emergency, you have to have a very cool head in order to work in those kinds of situations...not blow a fuse!!

Well I did it, filed a report against him, contacted my lawyer and i am suing the City of Federal Way Medic services. Luckily my friend had taken the photos of me that night, otherwise I wouldn't have had much to go on. I followed chinooks advice and got a copy of my uncle's medical record from emergency at the hospital and on top of that, the doctor gave me a written letter stating the injuries he treated me for as well as my record there. When I took it down to the police station, the officer i spoke too was also appalled!! Not only is the medic getting it, but apparently the officer on duty will have discplinary actions as well for not filing it in his report.
Guys and gals, i am still upset about this, the more i think about it, the more pissed I get! I just cannot believe it happenend, it sounds like some stupid sh** from COPS or something!!! my hand is doing better and the black eye is all gone, thank God, i am still able to ride my bike. i figured if i cannot get a grip on my feelings towards this incident here soon, i will have to do something. Thank all of you for your support and your suggestions, they have helped me greatly. It is good to know that I am not the only out there who feels this whole situation was unjustified. Thanks again! -------------- Bettia.... You can't depend on your eyes when your imagination is out of focus. -Mark Twain ravenbeauty@freetrainers.com |

Wow Raven - you have so much going on. One thing I am learning in life is that there are things you can control and things you cannot. What happened is horrible. But.... it is something you can take action against - but you cant change that it happened. I guess my point is that only in your mind can you let this go. Don't let you mind dwell on the unchangable, fucos now on what you can do to make what happened bearable (lawsuit) and make sure you prevent it from happening to others. I was in EMS for several years as well and could never think of doing anything like that, especially in a traumatic situation - it goes against everything we were taught. I do feel bad for you! I'm actually impressed that you didnt haul off and slug the guy.-------------- Every man hears only what he understands -Goethe |

I am actually better about the situation, feel like I have some control over it now, which is nice, i haven't stewed about something like that in a while.-------------- Bettia....
