So, I'm debating taking ZMA. From what I understand (correct me if I'm wrong), for a ZMA effect (increase in testosterone, strength gains, etc.) you want the following in your ZMA product:
Vitamin B6: 11mg
Magnesium: 450mg
Zinc: 30mg
Now, I'm looking at my current multi-vitamin, and I'm getting those numbers ALREADY. In fact, I'm getting a LOT more B6 (and about the minimums for Mag and Zinc).
That being the case, can I just rely on my multi-vitamin? Or, do the dedicated ZMA products (like Optimal ZMA or something) do something different that these same ingredients won't do together in my multi-vitamin?
Basically, I don't want to take "too much" of anything. :)

If you type "zinc" in the search you'll get tons of info about ZMA. I make my own with 50mg. of zinc 450mg. of magnesium and 25mg. of b6. Now i'm not an expert on ZMA but i know a little. It should be taken at night before bed on an empty stomach or about 2 hours after your last meal, then 30 to 60min. later you can take your pre bed meal. You need to wait this long so that it can be absorbed by the body because calcium and other foods will fight for absorption. I also know that these 3 need to be mixed in the right amounts for it to become ZMA, and that an hour into your sleep your body is in it's max in releasing muscle building hormones and repair ZMA boosts the release of these hormones. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, again you can find this all out by doing a search

You should take your ZMA at night irregardless of your multi vitamin intake. The synergystic effects the combination is what you are looking for.

Instead of taking ZMA can't you just take zinc, magnesium, and vitamin b6 all separate? Much cheaper and you get way more.
