Found some pretty funny articles about gym people and what not here's one i thought alot of people could realte to.

By: Todd Blue

I have decided to take a break from my typical bodybuilding article and just do one that I think anyone who has ever trained at a gym can relate to, The Gym Idiots. Once you start reading this you will know exactly whom I am talking about. These are the people who do nothing but take up space in a gym. The fools who just get on my nerves and make me very thankful for being able to train at home. Now on to the list.

The New Years Resolutioners - you know all those people who flock to a gym right after new years because they made a resolution to get into shape. They make the gym so overcrowded that it becomes miserable just to train. You know the same idiots that will spend a ton of money on gym clothes, membership, etc. and you will never see them in the gym after a couple of weeks. Ah, and that time is fast approaching once again, man am I glad I don't have to deal with that anymore.

The Coffee Drinkers - you have to train in the morning to notice this fine breed of gym goer. You know the guys and gals that just sit on the machines sipping on their Latté carrying on a nice little conversation with their fellow coffee drinkers while you are busting your butt. They will do 1 set every 10 minutes.

The Flirting Bimbo - all you guys know who she is. She is the hottest girl in the gym but she is also the most annoying. She is the one that comes up to you after you have just blasted out a set of squats from hell and bats her eyes at you then proceeds to ask you "can you please come take these plates off the leg press, they are just too heavy for me". To which I would say "Hell no, what do I look like, your personal trainer" You know how moody one can be after doing a set of brutal squats.

The Two Goofballs - Ah one of my all time favorites. These are the two retards that pay for a membership to sit back and check out the chicks. You know the two guys who are buddies, with bodies that would make Steve Erkel look like Arnold Schwarzenegger, the ones who just take up gym space to oogle at the ladies. I hate these guys; they do nothing but get in the way.

Ah, The Bench Presser - this guy really cracks me up. You know, the guy or guys who will train chest every day of the week yet still wonder why in the hell he isn't making any progress but still swears his way is the best way. They will do multiple sets of flat bench and throw in a set of flies for good measure I guess. Talk about an idiot.

The 165lb Mr. Olympia (or at least in his mind he is) - this is the fellow who is in decent shape and has some decent muscle mass but ruins it all with the way he carries himself. You know, walks around like he has latts as big as Ronnie Coleman's with his arms sticking out 3 feet from his sides.

The Spandex Lady - This one is not a pretty sight to see. The lady who really needs to loose about 75 more pounds before she tries to squeeze that lard into a tight fitting spandex shorts. Lady, let me let you in on something, NOBODY WANTS TO SEE YOU IN THAT so do us all a favor and just wear some sweats.

The Screamer - talk about annoying. This guy doesn't accomplish anything in a gym but annoy the hell out of everybody. This is the guy who is doing some squats and is screaming to the top of his lungs with each rep. The problem is it just doesn't stop there; he will do it for each exercise so you have to listen to his crap all night while training.

The Personal Trainer wanna be - nothing annoys me more than while I am in the middle of a set and this poor excuse for a physique comes over and offers his unwanted advice. Always critiquing the way you are training and that his way is so much better. Hey buddy, if your advice is the best why don't you look any better than what you do.

Discuss your experiences with gym idiots in this special section of the message boards!

The Serious Person (that would be me and I don't think I am an idiot but most of the people think I am by insane look while training) - when I get to the gym the first thing I do is put my fanny pack on, pull out my headphones and get in my own little world. Then I get the, if you talk to me I will kick your butt, look on my face. I grab my belt, straps and what ever else I may need on that day of training. When I am in this zone I don't like to be bothered. You know me, I am the guy that after doing a heavy set of dumbbell curls I will take and slam the weights down to the ground because I have just pushed myself through a pain barrier that no body else in that gym has ever done and doesn't even have the guts to do. I never look at anyone in the eye. Everyone avoids me until it is finished. Then as quickly as the all out assault started it is over. Then I come back to the real world and once again I am a really nice guy, until the next time I train. I guess this is why people think we bodybuilders are crazed idiots.

I am sure you can relate to most if not all of the people I have written about. If you are one of these people and are offended by what I wrote, I say so what. Get over it and change you view towards training. I hope that this amused you and next time when you go to the gym it will help you be able to pick these idiots out really fast in order to avoid them. Well, until next time.

Train Hard
Train Heavy
When you do your last Rep, do one more to GROW on.

Good Post Justin I think I have seen most of them too. I am partial to the 165lb Mr Olympia though. I work with one of those guys I like to refer to him as having "ILS" (Invisible Lat Syndrome) Thanks for the laugh!

I thought you guys might get a chuckle out of this. I thought i'd seen it all till the other day when i saw some guy on the recombant(sp?) bike doing dumbel military presses and curls whatever you could possibly do with dumbles on the upper body absolutely ridiculous.

It's funny at times I get the urge to be the guy to come over and tell people that 'squatting' 2 inches down is not very effective...but then I remember how much these know it all type of people irritate me so I just leave 1/2reppers to their own devices...

and since we're on a topic of different gym personalities...I'll add the 'squatting styles' since this exercise has diced up into something that no longer resembles it in my gym lol

my gym got few different squatting styles

-The guy who loads up 300+ and does 1/4 reps 5% of my gym
-The guy who uses 135(way to little for him) sits down like on a chair yet still does 1/3 5% of my gym
-The 1/2 reppers....like 80% of my gym
-The guy who does just shy of full which always irritate me, b/c I know he can do the full rep 5%
-squatter/deadlifter combo, one partner squats way too much and the other one deadlifts the differene 4% of my gym...
-and then there are people you can literally count on your hand who go down to at least parallel 1%

to compound the damage these same people are often squatting 135 for the last 4-5 years I been going to this gym....

The 250lb so called big guy who works out with huge amounts of weight on every exercise and does it with good form but yet he has as much body fat as he does muscle...so he still looks like a fat person.

dont be mad at me cause im 165 and I can see all the muscles that I am spending time working out!

punks.

My favorite is the old man on the lat pull down - you know there is one in every gym - who does pull downs by rowing with his entire body, bending back at the hips.
ILS - I thought we made that up at the gym I worked at - must be a real syndrome!

no....its just peopel have different goals....mine for right now is strength.....I keep my body fat in check and workout eat stuff I like....if I want pizza or strawberry daquerie.....i'll have one.

btw I don't look nasty.....I get many compliments from girls and guys a like. No i'm not the cuttest thing in the world.......but...

look at it this way likewise........your 165.....lets just say 10% body fat.....that means you have 148.5 lbs of lean tissue on your body.

now i'm 255.......about 19%.......but i'll just say 20 for it to be easy........wow, that means I have 204lbs of lean tissue??

And yes I do see my gains........in inches......or pounds......my chest is now almost 52in.......and my bench has went from working with 275 on a a good day......to 310plus..........my arms are now 19 1/4 cold in the morning. And if it wasn't for my lower back pull....i'd did 485 on squat last night, one inch below parallel. After 9 sets!

I know have to wear a xxl shirt in most brands, cause my shoulders are too thick. All of this I have gained, and still staying at about 19-20% body fat.

So hmm.....maybe you should think about that before spouting your mouth off. 148lbs....vs 204lbs?

And there it goes spiralling into never never land.........

I remember being offended by a charcter on these boards some time back, he was on about disliking fat people, of whom I was one and since have worked my way from there, so Mutt & co I feel your pain. (Not the reference to lard around the waistline, but simply taking offfence at anothers insensitivity).

How to Avoid Embarrassing Moments in the Gym
By: Bryan Kenny

I came into some serious writer's block trying to think of a topic for this article, so I stopped for a minute and started thinking about what hasn't been in an article yet. I was still getting no where, so I checked out message boards, chats, everything. I swept through Bodybuilding.com like a brush fire, and came across the Embarrassing Moments section. And everyone has at least one embarrassing thing happen to them in the gym, whether its: farting, splitting your pants, or even crapping yourself. I'm going to give you a few ways to avoid these awkward situations. And I'll tell you a couple of my worst gym embarrassments, sad to say, but two involve my nuts.

I'll start with farts, everybody does it, but most deny it. I don't know anyone who hasn't passed gas once or twice while in the gym. For me, I find myself always letting one or two go every time I'm in there, usually when I'm doing bench or leg press, not that embarrassing....unless one of your best friends is spotting you. One time I was doing bench and my friend was spotting me, nothing wrong there, I can't remember how much weight was on the bar, but around my ninth rep I pushed so hard and it just came out, the stench was so bad that my friend went over to the other end of the gym. I tried to continue with a couple more sets, but that's very hard to do when you're laughing, I was hysterical over how the people reacted when they walk by, I laughed so hard that the bar dropped on my chest and I couldn't get it off. Luckily my friend came back (holding his breath) and helped me out. From that day on I always try to get all my gas out before I go into the gym.

Splitting your pants, I can't say I've done this yet, and I hope it never does. But still I wish I had a story or two about this one, so instead I'll keep it short and sweet and just tell a few ways to avoid this. First make sure you wear loose clothing, and if you're one of those people that like wearing tighter clothes avoid bending over if you can. But don't wear your clothes too loose because you could get your pants caught on something and the chicks in the gym that have been staring at you could be in for a surprise (big or small...you know what I mean).

Not many people crap themselves in the gym, but it does happen. I remember someone telling me about the time he was squatting 500lbs. and in the middle of a set he pushed so hard, that he didn't realize what happened until he finished the set.

There's only one thing I can think of that would help avoid this situation, make sure you use the washroom BEFORE you start your workout. That way your body won't have much, if anything, left for you to crap out later.

I guess it wouldn't hurt to tell you a couple more of my embarrassing moments. Ok, I was heading over to the pec deck and someone called my name, so I turned my head (still walking) and next thing I know Ive got the end of a bar in my crotch.

And another time I had just finished an intense cardio session, and I saw that there was only a few minutes until the gym closed, so I figured I'd do a little bit on the preacher bench. BIG MISTAKE when you're soaked in sweat. My shorts were totally drenched. I grabbed the bar and started. It was ok at first, then near end of my third set I started to struggle and before I can do anything about it my nuts met with the adjustable support on the bench. OUCH!!

Train Safe, Smart, and Embarrassment Free!

Wow, it is amazing the twists and turns a thread can take. Haven't looked at this thread virtually since it started, boy, did things get out of hand. Civility folks, how about it?? Reading from beginning to end, without knowing what to expect, I believe things got taken out of context early on, and degraded from there. I think closing this thread would be a good idea and lets move on, shall we?

Asimmer...I know of just the old man you speak of....sometimes it's painful just to watch....

in general I love an exercise that turns into a fullbody routine....it's just hilarious to watch...although I am guilty of this myself at times...trying to fight for that last rep...lol

Likewise...the only thing I said...was that since you became offended by 'one of the types' mentioned in justin's post...I guessed this is how you must perceive yourself...otherwise you would not have gotten mad over it and would have just took it in stride....

Also the reason people lift weights varies considerably...so just because your goal is to be able to see all of your 600+ muscles doesn't mean that's the case with everyone else...gl trying to see your heart btw...lol

many people lift just for the added benefits that resistance training provides....not to simply be able to see that 6pack....or others train to lift most weight...or improve in a given sport....the reasons are numerous...so there's no need to make implicit jabs at certain people...I personally combine powerlifting/bodybuilding aspects to fit my own goals...nothing is set in stone..

also....I don't see why there's any need for any insults to fly around...you can think I am the biggest a-hole here but you can still separate me from my arguments and try to disprove what I am saying...or whoever else you are in disagreement with...I personally think we could all learn a lot from such debates as long as we keep it 'civil'

honestly, you guys are kinda sad, what are you arguing about? which body type is better? they both have there advantages and disadvantages, so maby i think you should put your ego's aside and think about the other persons body type.

I often see bad form usually from macho men. They are into lbs they can lift and I swear someone is gonna kill themselves. I can't take the bimbos. Some are actually serious in their workouts though but they are little things prancing around the gym with low cut tanks so when they bend down oh boy. Even when I was young and fine I was modest and covered up especially to work out. And the plastic surgery babes don't get me started. Where did they think those liver lips with the pencil lines around them looked good. And the boobs that don't move yeah right....
