Do you count the barbell weight to? I use an olympic barbell for my curls....Without swinging I can only get around 65 pounds...Using perfect form...150 yeah right

mutt-I pat you on the bicep!...I can only dream to curl that much....Now doing DB curls I can usually get around 50 in each hand well around 40-45 w/ perfect form....150 bb curls is just insane I probably couldnt get it up an inch lol.....

14 in bicep and can curl 150? ok big differance in that 120 and 150 man,......nto saying your lying but me an dmutt have some of the biggest arms in here, and we can't curl that.......i'm out with a bicep/ brachalis strain so I can't go very heavy, but still at my prime I did 115 for 5 reps no movement except for my arms. Either you have alot of fast twitch muscle fibers, or you was rocking all over the place and pretty much cleaning it......just my opinion

i never said perfect form, but i just went and checked and pulled off 95 perfect form for 2 reps(slightest cheat on 2nd rep) so u guys were right but i still think this is pretty good for 15. wat u think?

speaking of biceps and doing large amounts of weight curling, I have to work out in the rec center at my college( its free) but its not that bad. Only thing i don't like is that people lift where their egos and not their heads. People are so concerend about how much, than how they are lifting it. Peopel arch their back into a back bend, people rock back to do curls, all cause they wanna look "cool" cause they are curling god knows how much, or benching 250, then get up and say, " man my back is always hurting!" Freaking Duh! But since i'm passive agressive, and quiet so I keep my head phones on and go about my workout, but i do shoot some " what the hell are you doing looks"..................I think under every weight room door their should be the following saying......
......"Leave your ego at the door!"...... just my opinion though.:dumbbell:

ermm well your a gymnast so i feel its ok, but in saying that your arms are bigger than mine :-(
Guys how long does it take to put on some inches!? im like 13" now.. so lets say i have the perfect diet, good workout habits, how fast could i put on say 3 inches? (thats my medium term goal).. all i can say is im glad i live in new zealand, ive got another 8 months before summer.. hopefully pleanty of time to get another 3 inches in.. i just started working out 3 weeks ago btw...

I am 18, 5 ft 7'' and have 14 inch biceps which i also think need to be bigger!(i have only just recently started working out again)

i'm with you basia, mine are 14" flexed so you've got me beat. sometimes i get funny looks at the gym for being such a hoss but i get a kick out of it. be proud of them, no one will mess with you in a dark alley!

fully flexed 17.5, which isn't much different from hanging at my side with palms forward around the largest part.

you know samurai, some people just have naturally large muscles. when i was 13 i had 12.5" arms and i'd never lifted a weight in my life. chances are basia has a mesomorphic body type and has a naturally athletic build and can add muscle extremely easily. sometimes you have to take genetics into account before you insinuate that someone is a liar.

I can testify to this.....shes not working out, she's doing gymnastics.....think about it?( correct me if i'm worng) I'm a cheerleader I very very rarly train my shoulders because of that fact, cause thats all cheerleading is is a power clean over and over again. I can clean high pull over my head about 225lbs. It not cause i work out constantly its cause my muscle had addapted to the workload cheerleading. Her work load is gymnastics. Think about doing dips on rings, walking on your hands, working on a horse for 2 hours a day with your body weight. That is why she has big arms.

now i'm generally not one to get upset about things...but if samurai's last post was in any way taking a shot at basia or myself or women in general for that matter, i'm going to have to take offense.

like i said before, i'm proud of my 14" arms, and i wouldn't be proud of them if they were mostly fat. i do, however, lift hard and heavy 5 days a week and keep a super clean diet to make sure that the fat on every part of my body is minimal.

with that said, if you can't take the fact that a woman might have arms that are as big or bigger than yours that do consist primarily of muscle tissue rather than fat, you should probably check your ego at the door before posting on this site because i guarantee basia and i are not the only women with big, muscular arms on ft.

(sorry to keep up the argument jdelts, just had to get that one in for the ladies:))

getting back on the bicep size, I am prity happy with myself, since learning some of this Weightlifting knowlage I went from a near 14" arm, tad less, to a solid 14.5" next goal, the obvious 15" ROAR!! lol, currently, Triceps are pushing 87 for reps (ez bar with some 25s) and preacher curls pulling up to 40lbs each arm... but that is for my 1-3 rep cycle.

BB bicep curls 65-70
DB curls-I usually do around 15-30 but if I want to push myself I could do 40 in each hand probably
Preacher I use a ez-bar and normall day 40-50 that includes the bar
Tricep pulldowns-50pds -god those are hard
skull crushers-40-60 pounds.

I think my body is strong for its size, my muscles are not that big, but may be due to their length. I always have to buy Long, when I see XLL as a size option in a cheep store I go nuts lol, big and tall normaly only carries XXLL as their small size, it is agrivating. Man, sounds like you (goldengloves) are right around my level, I have a hard time finding people that are at that "intermediate" level, seems that everyone is etither strugling with the bar or benching 300lbs+ lol wish you were at my base so we could hit the gym for spot/modivation and stuff.

You have a problem in big and tall? must be nice I cant find any clothes that fit me...It's weird im not small but every shirt and pants I try on fit weird...I have a really short midsection so majority of shirts are to long *argh*....I've been recently shopping at jcpenneys in the mens section it is like a dream come true for me lol....Relique-Everyone here is the same way (or so they act)...I dont see how much people do because I workout in my house but 300+ bench geez im not even doing half of that lol....I put 210 on a bar and lifted it up my most I ever benched was like 165 not impressive but ehh who cares it still builds muscle for me....I squatted 210 before w/ relative ease....A spotter would be nice.

Lol, yeah, we have the exact oposite problem with cloths lol my torso is long, so shirts tend to ride up, and as I said, if it is a long sleved shirt, I have to get long sleves. I do not bench any where near 300 lol, think It might be that I am in a military gym when I work out, but there is no inbetween here but me. I bench 155 for reps, 205 is my max. This guy comes up next to me benching, throws two 45s on each end for a warm up!! lol caught myself staring at the weights, the guy chuckled at me.

Believe it or not when I first started out I couldnt even bench 45 pounds and that was last year....Now I am using an olympic bb (which is like 45 pounds) and I usually start with like 2 35 pound weights on each end and gradually move up and last year I didnt even own an olympic BB just one of those 1" thick tiny ones from walmart that came w/ the 110 pound weight set and I struggled my ass off with 60 pounds it was embarrassing but looking back I came a loooooooong way!....I mean struggling with 60 pounds thats weak lol....I use to use the bar (which weighed around 5 pounds if that) and add 10 pound weights to it then move to a 15 and then 25 on each side and I struggled lol....I've thought about buying 2-45 pound weights but I dont want to be discouraged going from 35 to 45 and be discouraged I only add like 2 1/2 pounds to 5 pounds each time when I move up in weight....

Do not sweat it guys...I started at 95lbs and now my max is over 300....it just takes time and fearlessness. You need to miss reps and not hit your goal in order to hit it. I know that is weird, but it works. I added 45lbs tomy bench in 4 months by throwing the "reps" out the window. By that I mean that I had a set goal of reps for each set. Also had a weight goal for each set. If I remember it right I did something like this: set one 185x10 (this after 1-2 warm up) 205x10 225x8 245x8 265x6 275x4. Now if I made each rep on every set I added weight. If on any set over 225 I failed I stoped lowerd the weight down to the previous set and did as many reps, lowerd weight more reps etc. In 4 months I went from 185-205 as my main sets (non heavy days) to 225-255 as my working sets. It just takes time. I am not saying this is the right way but it worked for me. So just get going and keep at it!:dumbbell:
