I hit 300 for a set of 5 as well. I haven't shot for a PR in a while, I'll probably take 2-3 weeks off of DLs and give it a shot. I need a deload week anyway, I've been doing a version of riptoes program. Moving from a WS template to a full body workout with little to no rest was tough on my body but it was a good change.

From the contest this saturday:

385 for 6 reps, should have had a 7th. Weighed in under 170.

I'm still stuck on 320x2 but maybe on Wednesday I'll hit it for at least 3 of the set goal of 5.

Working up to 5x5 with 405....raw....no belt either.

Been long while since i have pulled for reps...my coach thinks i'll resond better than to singles. So far so good. Busts my ass.

next week i get to try 3 sets of 5!

No I got stuck at 330 for 1 and my squat and bench got stuck also so as of now I have turned my 5 x 5 routine into a cross of 5 x 5 with a speed work day.

I'm stuck because I'm starting off to slow in the dead, slow out the hole in squat and slow off the chest on bench so it's a call for speed work as I see it.

I have never done speed work before so it will be a great change for the body.

I pulled 575 today - raw and legal at a bodyweight of 238lbs (yeah, I've dropped some weight lately). The gym owner is a judge for competitions and told me it was 'a good, clean lift'. I'm edging ever so close to 600+. It felt great; in fact, I honestly think I could've done a 12-plate pull. In due time...

What do you have in mind for speed work? Incoporate some Olympic-style explosive stuff into your routine and your numbers should increase. Also, don't do super heavy deads (95% or more 1RM) more than once every 3-5 weeks. I used to train deads heavy every week and didn't go anywhere - live and learn, I guess. For the past few months I've been using a Westside-like training routine and my strength has increased quite a bit on all lifts. You should see some improvement by adding speed work, but also look at how often you're training heavy. Your body just may need more of a rest.

Nice lifts bro but on your squat your head look to straight forward and a look down at one point and is why I think so stuck or when you stuck you got that rock forward a tad but you still got that lift and went low.

A possibility also could have been the mirrors and if you looked into it your head followed the lift.

More then I can lift right now so I'm not talking you down one bit and I may also be wrong.

After a second look I see you started your squat looking downward and at descent you peek even further down then brought you head back up but still looking downward.

Nothing to brag about but I got 340 clean and fast for 1 rep today.

I'll get there, I just have to stick with it and believe in myself.

It went like this.

5 x 215
5 x 255
3 x 300
1 x 340

Kind of hard to be proud when your seeing other with 4 to 6 plates get theirs easily.

Thanks KA and SFGiantsMVP.

I do look down at the front support of the rack when I squat. Looking down in that manner helps me to sit back properly. It was something I picked up by reading Mark Rippetoe's book. That squat was at the very edge of my ability, hence the slight form stutter.

Nice pull by the way. Keep working hard.

Your pulls looks good....I would try to sit back on my heals more and get my shoulders even with the bar not over.

As for your squat, I wouldn't look down, that's just me. Your set up, your chest is already a little forward. I'd focas on something eye level and keep it there. Looking down and actually moving yoru head, put s a unneeded curve in the spine. I'd also loose the squatting infront of a mirror is possible, that screwed me up alot.

If you do have to look down do so with your eyes, not your head. As you come out of hole, then look up.

Speed work and pauses has been doing wonders for my squat and bench and speed and deficit work for my deadlifts seem to be doing good also.

Here is what I came up with for a deadlifting cycle until different weakness comes along.

Week 1 Deadlift Speed Work 60% 6x3, 75%x5x2
Week 2 Deadlift From A Deficit 65%x5, 75%x5, 85%x3x2
Week 3 Deadlift Speed Work 60% 6x3, 75%x5x2
Week 4 Deadlift ME 65%x5, 75%x5, 85%x3 & 100%x1
Week 5 Deadlift Speed Work 60% 6x3, 75%x5x2
Week 6 Deadlift From A Deficit 65%x5, 75%x5, 85%x3x2
Week 7 Deadlift Speed Work 60% 6x3, 75%x5x2
Week 8 Deadlift ME 65%x5, 75%x5, 85%x3 & 100%x1

0x 365 Again My Legs would go lol

I got it with ease in 1 steady pace from bottom to top it was all one move at same speed althought slower then the 305.

By the way all but the PR and Failed attempts were Double Overhand.

Nice lifting!

Now that my back is squared away and hips are much better I'm going to have to step it up before you pass me up lol.

My goal has been 725 with belt and chalk. Will give it a shot next week. Hopefully my grip will hold.

I hit 495x5 on my last set yesterday. I think I can do 510-515 for 5 reps next time.

As a side note... At this same time last year, my 1RM was only 480.
