Rest up, princess. It is hard to wait it out, but better in the long run.
I am back. I am exhausted. We got a puppy while we were up north . He is adorable, his name is Ole (Oh-lee), and he is a Norwegian Elkhound. He is also very rambunctious and not quite crate trained...so, he is barking less at night now, and is starting to understand that crate=quiet time. The furry cardio king, Magnus, is finally starting to accept Ole, after much doggie drama. They still both have to have the same toy (100 tennis balls and they would still argue over the same one...). Last night was the first night that I actually got some sleep. I am still going to try and nap today when Ole naps. It is fun to walk the dogs together, my daughter walks Ole and I walk Magnus. Ole will be an awesome running companion when he is older. My diet has been awful recently - peanut butter sandwiches are quick and easy and I can make them in my zombie-like state... I will get back on track today! Welcome back Asimmer and may I welcome Ohlee too??
Princess, no need to appologise, just wasn't sure, They should only make toys so strong and no no need to change batteries! Like I said, romntic. Sorry for carrying on! Now I must go change and train! Asimmer......was it at least natural peanut butter, or did it contain those super naturals, like hydro and sugar? -------------- "A will finds a way, failure is not an option" Ivan carivan@freetrainers.com Montreal Canada |

Hi all,
I am a newbie. I want to lose 50 lbs by next June. I just had a baby in July. I want to know how do I start a diet plan? I have given up junk food as of yesterday. I have the following exercise equipment at home: A Treadmill & 2 (5 lbs dumbbells). I was thinking about doing the Slimfast Plan. I know it will take some time lose the weight. Thanks in advance for your advice. |

cristalbelle - add some protein to each meal/snack and you will notice results very quickly.
low-fat string cheese, tuna fish, low-fat deli-meat. Right now your diet is heavy on the carbs and low on protein. Cut out those mini-cookies and muffins and you will do yourself a huge favor. -------------- \"The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes.\" Marcel Proust |

Ya cristalbelle, cut out the crap!
I had 2 glasses of wine last night, which stopped any thermogenic effect for sure. ONETHINGIRL...... Don't do a slimfsat diet. First off, you can get better nutrition from real foods, and second, when you stop the slimfast, you will gain your weight back. My suggestion to you would be to eat foods with protein, good carbs, and good fat. Had a great cheat meal tonight.wow. heres what the furnace concumed today. 8:30 coffee, high protein cereal 9:30 yogurt 10:50 coffee 12:30 shredded beef in pita, with lettuce and tomatoe and diet pepsi. 2:00 trained 3:30 PWO shake 4:15 yogurt and 1 apple 5:00 handfull of cashews and some almonds (natural) 7:00 cheat meal for this week 6.5 slices of medium size pizza with meat sauce, pepperonni, cheese, mushrooms, greenpeppers at my friends restaurant (Not a franchise pizza). Can't believe I ate all that! My wife only had 2.5 peices! 8:30 coffee. All in all, it was a great week. -------------- "A will finds a way, failure is not an option" Ivan carivan@freetrainers.com Montreal Canada |

Ate clean over the weekend, but I'm still struggling to get rid of this virus, so I have decided to relax the diet side of things until I'm better.
I will still check in and give advice where I'm able, but I'm not going to post my meals - this has worked so well I find it very difficult to relax my eating if I'm posting everything! cristalbelle - I usually carry an emergency protein bar or bag of nuts in my handbag for situations where I find I'm not eating regularly enough. hope everyone had a good weekend :) |

It was an easy weekend. Some pizza and strawberry ice cream on Saturday (cheat day) and right back at it yesterday and today. I don't have the time to list stuff here right now, work is nuts today! Can't they just understand I am trying to work on myself!

The weekend went well.
Today I celebrated with a cheat lunch today as it is 3 months today that I challenged a friend and I won the challenge. I went down 3 belt notches and he only went down one. He had to buy the cheat lunch. Ok so heres how it went. 7:00 coffee with a yogurt 9:30 High protein cereal 11:30 cheat lunch---4 hot dogs 1 french fry, and a real coke! 1:00 trained 2:30 PWO shake 3:30 yogurt and handful of cashews and almonds (natural) 6:00 2 canneloni stuffed with lean minced beef. (Pasta is homade with extra protein) 7:45 coffee and 1/2 of a cookie. Hope you are all ok and the Princess is getting over that virus. CristalBelle don't waist your $$$ on those slimfast shakes. They are not good nutrition. If you read the label, you will find that there is not much protein, alot of carbs and fat, not to mention the processing. Spend the same $$ on a good MRP.
Didn't eat well today. Actually forgot to eat breakfast, but had a great workout anyway. 7:00 2cups of coffee 9;20 trained 1045 PWO shake 12:00 subway turkey and ham on whole wheat (no sauce) with water. 2:00 Protein bar 3:30 yogurt with handful of almonds and cashews (natural) 6:00 5 chicken fingers (chicken breast) coated with cornflakes, ground fine) cauliflower, rice. 8:00 coffee with a biscotti 9:30 MRP. 10:00 going to sleep. Ivan, are there any good protien shakes that come already made (cans/bottles) that are cheap. The only reason I said slim fast was because I know it is cheap enough for me to actually buy in order to get more nutrition. As it goes, here is yesterday, and I think it was a lot better.
6:00 Mixture of ground turkey, brown rice, eggs and cheese 10:00 Nutrigrain bar 11:30 Hostess berry "pie" (don't really know what they are) 1:00 Apple 2:30 Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwich on winter wheat bread 6:00 Grilled cheese sandwhich and chicken noodle soup. |

============ Quoting from CristalBelle: Ivan, are there any good protien shakes that come already made (cans/bottles) that are cheap. The only reason I said slim fast was because I know it is cheap enough for me to actually buy in order to get more nutrition. As it goes, here is yesterday, and I think it was a lot better. ================================== I don't know what to recommend to you, because there are many supplements, and prices. Maybe the supplement route is not the way to go for you. What you CAN do is bring some hard boiled eggs with you (they don't have to be refrigerated), and perhaps those small one serving cans of clover leaf tuna, in water, some nuts, fruit, all these are less expensive than supplements, and are nutricous. Hope that heps you. Today didn't go to well on the eating side of things. Didn't eat enough. 7:30 coffee 8:30 chigh protein cereal 9:40 trained 10:45 PWO shake 12:30 1/2 of a chicken, green beans, and some saurkraut, green tea. 3:30 coffee 4:30 green tea 6:00 beef stew 8:00 MRP -------------- "A will finds a way, failure is not an option" Ivan carivan@freetrainers.com Montreal Canada |

I'm here, been watching, but too tired/pressed for time to post..
Depressing week, had big dog put down due to aggressive behavior (should have done it four years ago, but couldn't. Vet reccommmended it because he was getting more aggressive and stressed out). Ate a lot, drank beer, didn't get much sleep. Things are normalizing now, Ole is sleeping almost through the night, I am starting to feel almost rested in the morning. I lifted on tuesday and will do cardio today.. Started my day with bodybuilder pancakes, will post the rest later.... Christalbelle - check the new slimfast labels and their ingredients, supposedly they are coming out with a lower usgar, better quality slimfast. The old stuff is lots of sugary and low-quality ingredients. A large tub of Protein powder is cheap when you break it down per serving, and you could just throw some in a drink/shake bottle and add water at work. Also - look up the post in the FAQ section on eating healthier for less - under the grocery tips post. You just need to commit to making/packing healthy meals to take with you, it doesn't take that much time/effort and will propel you towards your fitness/physique goals. -------------- \"The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes.\" Marcel Proust |

I'm not using this as an excuse, but my husband works on a commision, and in the best of months, we do have the money to buy extras that are healthy for us(nut's,yogurt, cottage cheese, ect) However, in the fall and winter months, 99% of the time, we don't have enough money to buy ANY groceries at all. I guess I will just have to do my best with what we have, and accept that results are going to take a really long time. Here was yesterday
6:00 Honey nut cherrios and milk 9:00 1/2 apple & nutrigrain bar 11:00 15 baby carrots 1:00 peanut butter and jelly sandwich(sugar free jelly) 2:30 Still hungry, so bought 5 jojo's from the store downstairs (.80$) 7:00 Spaghetti w/ground turkey pasta sauce Won't be eating anything today, as I had a gall bladder attack last night. Will try to get down some flat ginger ale if I can. |

Not to get OT, but asimmer, sorry about your dog.
Everything was fine for me until last night. I had some pretzels and almonds and cashews. Maybe a little too many. So, it wasn't crazy, but not what I wanted to do. |

9:45 2 coffees with a six egg omlette (whites only) with chopped ham, red peppers, green peppers, onions, (we call it a western omlette here) dry whole wheat toast, and 2 wedges of melon.
12:30 handful of almonds and cashews (raw) 2:30 MRP 5:00 about 8 oz of bbq'd salmon fillet and cauliflower. 7:00 coffee with 1/2 of a cookie 8:30 trained 9:40 PWO shake At around 10:30 I'll have some rice with some cottage cheese. -------------- "A will finds a way, failure is not an option" Ivan carivan@freetrainers.com Montreal Canada |

Christalbelle - bulk oatrmeal is cheaper and better for you than honey Nut Cheerios, Bulk brown rice is cheap, frozen fish is often cheap, especially on sale (I get two pakages of pollock fillet for 3 dollars quite often) beans are very cheap, especially if you buy dry and cook yourself. Sweet potatos and winter squash are very inexpensive and healthy. Often i buy frozen veggies on sale for 99cents a bag. It is all about what you want and how much effort you will put into it.
My diet as a broke college student was very healthy and cheap - oatmeal in the morning, black bean burritoes on whole wheat wraps for dinner, cut up veggies and tuna for lunch...none of it was expensive or too time consuming. I am not trying to come down on you, but it is a matter of perspective, i guess. I can eat cheaper sticking to healthy foods than eating junk like jojo's.... Yesterday : Bodybuilder pancakes Shake: frozen peaches, oat bran, isopure, Udo's oil leftover steak on salad greens with 1/2 oz pepper jack cheese and drizzle of light ranch dressing, sweet potato soup (slice one small sweet potato, bring to boil in pot with 1 c lowfat chicken broth, simmer until soft, mash up, add 1/2 tsp olive oil spread, gradually mix in 3/4c skim milk, heat through. Salt Pepper to taste, MMM) Out running around - grilled chicken burrito and 1/2 a quesadilla (not very good...) diet coke... It all went to hell in the evening, had some sweet potato chips and some bass pale ale.... Getting back on track - the pup didn't bark at all last night. (Thanks for the consolation, Wanglais). My left wrist is killing me today - don't think i will be lifting. :( Wanglais - sounds like you didn't get too outta control - just get back on track. I will, too. :) -------------- \"The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes.\" Marcel Proust |

Sorry you've not been well cristalbelle.
When I was a student I used to eat healthy on a budget too. I would eat lots of lentils, beans etc. and I found that some grocers would reduce fruit and veg that was about to go out of date (i.e. perfectly ripe!). It did mean shopping daily for veg, but it was worth it. Sorry about your dog too Amy. I am much better now. I'm sticking roughly to maintenance calories, and I think relaxing things has helped. |

Glad to be back. Forget about those dinners fitncosmoogrl. They might be low in the fat dept, but not good in the carbs and sodium. They are processed, and defeats the purpose of healthy food. Well lets see if I can remember what I had yesterday. 8:00 High protein cereal 9:30 trained 10:45 pwo shake 12:50 1/2 bbq chicken, baked potatoe, salsa 2:30 almonds, cashews, yogurt 5:30 MRP 7:00 sirloin with broccoli, and spinnache green tea 9:00 latte with 1/2 a biscotti today. 8:30 coffee with cereal/milk 9:30 trained 10:45 PWO shake 1:00 chicken and ham sandwich/ grain bread, diet coke 3:00 yogurt 5:15 8oz pork cop bbq'd, broccoloi, and club soda 6:45 cappucino 9:45 yogurt with handful of almond and cashews (raw). 8:30 English muffin w/scrambled egg, canadian bacon, cheese, and coffee 10:00 Slim fast low carb breakfast bar 12:00 Hub's came and bought me lunch 1 Chicken strip and about 3 jojo's (they weren't that appetizing..my body knows they are bad) No dinner. We had a birthday party for a friend at our rec room, and after waiting an hour and a half with no one showing up, we called the people, the friends gf got pissed, said she wasn't going to reimburse us for the money we paid to reserve the rec room, her mother got involved and called the police....it was just about the stupidest and most uppsetting thing that has ever happened to me. I am not hungry at all today because of it, so who knows if today will be any better  |

Undereating is the worst thing to do as you lose muscle tissue and slow your metabolism.
It depends on how often these things happen how you deal with them. Consistency is the most important thing. If you have a stressful day once a week, then you could call that your "cheat" day or day off, and if you eat a bit more than usual, no problem. If it's happening more than once a week, you need to find a different way to deal with your stress that doesn't involve food, or you will not reach your goals. I find working out is a really positive way to deal with stress. |

Saturday is my usual cheat day. Had some sushi, sweet and sour chicken and ice cream. Back at it Sunday. Going easy in the gym with the freakin' pinched nerve in my back. All is well with the diet otherwise.

Hey! Where is everybody?
I have been absorbed in new puppy-parenthood (i am in love...) and not sticking too closely to anything like a plan... Got sick of it all today and went to the bookstore for inspiration...going to kick some bad habits for good and move forward. I hope everyone is well and will post a good day tomorrow.:) -------------- "The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes." Marcel Proust |

Wow - the holidays must be really taking a toll on everyone's diets!!!:surprised:
I can say that I ate decent portion sizes and only had seconds of stuffing. Pretty controlled, for me. The stuffing was healthier because I made it, it was made with herb seasoned bread cubes (wheat and white mix), prosciutto, pine nuts, onion, pears and olive oil/broth. Turned out really tasty! Have been working out everyday, except Thanksgiving, when i was on my feet from 5am cooking... Breakfast and second meal today - leftover stuffing, at breakfast it was with an egg and some egg whites. Second meal it was with some leftover turkey. I hope everyone is doing well! -------------- "The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes."
