Ok I promise to get the before pics and one from today up this weekend come hell or high water.

Workout was cancelled as I needed to get new work shoes and we were out and about with the boys until 8pm. Then I cooked some fish in the oven and spaghetti squash, not sure if I cooked the squash right as I microwaved it per Rachel Ray recipie from the Food Net work. It came out a bit Al dente. Oh well some salt lots of pepper and Jalopeno jack cheese it is tasty.

So I went in to do shoulders and Legs. Lets just say hitting 95x5 on the Barbell shoulder press is not what I expected. To make it worse my squats I barely got 155x7 with out almost passing out. I am depressed and i spent the last few hours thinking I amde a mistake with this whole thing. I know I should not expect to be lifting like I did before the surgery but come on! I got so lightheaded and sick to my stomach it took 5 minutes before I felt ok to walk to get my boys and go home. Here is the workout I did:
Warm up-rubberband rotor cup stretching
BBsh press (bar)x10 55x10 95x5 115x4 115x6
Side lateral raises 20x10 25x10
Shrugs 135x10 155x10 185x10 225x10 275x10 315x10

Squats 95x10 135x7 155x7

that was it. 3 freaking sets and I was wiped out. I am so upset at that you have no idea.
Only Highlights: 315x10 for shurgs was higher than expected. No pain or discomfort.

YOU DID NOT MAKE A MISTAKE - think longterm. Your journey will be a marathon, not a race. Good Luck Bro

DOMS big time for legs. Came to a decision for my workouts. I am going to keep them to 20 minutes and focus on one body part for the next 2 weeks. I just need to get that endurance back.

I followed my advice and did a chest wrokout. Took half hour and felt a lot better than last week.

Bench barx10 95x10 115x10 135x10 155x10 185x2
incline 135x10 145x10 155x6
Flys 25x10 30x10 35x10

Thoughts: Felt very strong for 3-4 sets. Exhaustion set in longer rest times. ALl in all it was a good workout.

dude i havent seen an xl since 8th grade, good for you im jealous. i was in great shape when playing highschool football and then 2 years for umass but ive always had a big chest and waist, shirts would fit around my tummy fine but real tight on chest, bunchin up under armpits and they'd stretch across my chest, so id always get the next sized up, then it would fit my chest but felt like i was wearing a tent around my mid section, damn cloth makers....

So how is the diet part going Mutt. Have you adjusted to the smaller portions. Do you feel OK eating so much less? Do you miss eating the way you used to, or is the thought of how that would make you feel enough to curb your appetite.....just curious....

No I miss food totaly! Went to a bday party and they had pizza and wings. The pizza had everything on one of them, I ate 2 wings and got very ill after eating them. I am getting better with the portions but working out is hard. I so want a big plate of pasta with a salad and rolls LOL.

I kind of figured as much. I guess you just have to keep your ultimate goal of a long and healthy life for you and your family, in percpective--far more important than a big plate of pasta (although maybe not as yummy in the short term:) ) keep up the great effort, you're doin awesome:big_smile:

lol mutt, i guess having a rack of 2x or 3x shirts all to ourselves tends to spoil us a bit but you'll just have learn that even thou you are losing weight, you are still far from normal, hehehe j/k.... i know what you are trying to say but lets be normal sized guys for awhile, and we can still be adnormal in many other ways

Gee thanks KC! Thank Fly. I am dealing with it ok. I go today for a check up will update that asap. Some thoughts: I look thinner, but feel fatter. LOL. I have lost almost 50 lbs but only 2-3 inches from the waist. I crave hamburgers. I can eat almost normally. Right now my favorite meal is squash and fish. Yummy! I feel lighter and my feet and knees do not hurt as much as they did. I hid that from my family for the last year or so. I look to hit 240 by christmas and then lose the last 40 by May. I think all in all this has been the right decision for ME, but anyone else thinking of having it needs to spend a few years really tring to lose first.

The mental ideals of what you like are so hard to figure.I was talking to you about this the other day...I remember my son's 7th birthday..I thought I was just a cow...I remember being in tears (I'm a cry baby)because I couldn't find anything to wear...I was 136 pounds and I'm 5'7.the other day I ran across pictures of that day,and I looked pretty good!!I was shocked, remembering how I felt that day.Once you're heavy it's hard to get that mental image out of your mind, and I'm sure it will stay with you for some time.I think it may have something to do with self confidence too,at 154 I feel more confident today than I did at 136 that day.I'm not nearly as self critical about the way I look.Try working on good self talk...don't think of yourself as fat...think hey...I look pretty good!!!Remember that great feeling you had when you put on those pants in a smaller size...thats who you are...

Yeah I know that. Try to do all that too. My wife is 165 and still thinks of herself at her pre surgery weight. SO it is not a overnight thing. One thing that made me laugh is that i measured my arms and they are 17.5 so I am gaining that back a bit. I will be devestated if my arms get below 18 for good.

that should read bent rows(barbell).
Had a very long rough night. Joey woke up at 4am, and Alex crawled into bed around then as well. That was not the problem. I had very bad dreams. One was my wife and kids dying. ANother was losing my job. It just went on and on. I have no idea what was the problem. I never really have those types of dreams....makes me a bit worried.

those dreams/nightmares may be a result of your body's cravings for the pain meds that you were taking. my experiences in rehad situations is that heroin users ( opiate derivatives like percacet and percadan ) along with vicodin can cause severe dreaming and increased brain activty while in deep sleep, we call em drug dreams. that may be one explanation scott....

I'm no dream expert, but all those dreams to me would mean you're worried about the future...probably in connection with you feeling concern about whether or not your sugery was the best thing to do. Best thing to do with bad dreams....tell em to scram!!
