Well there are a number of meds that CAN be used for it. I however am not able to take them. I have been waiting for a day now for the Docs office that does the bypass surgery to call me with a answer but they still have not. I just want the pain to stop. I know that sounds wimpy and weak, but this constant throbbing and well pain is drivingme nuts.

Doesn't sound wimpy and weak. Pain freaking hurts! Be the squeeky wheel if you have to, but you shouldn't be in pain all the time. I hope they get it figured out soon.

Me too. I look like I have not slept in a week. I take the vicodin at 1030pm sleep or for 4 hours then it wears off a bit and that is about it. Last night I got the foot tangled with the blanket and tweaked it. That hurt a lot.

I'm sending Crissy Vicodin Vibes your way. When I take a full one, I'm knocked out for 10-12 hours...."Put the mutters to sleep....put the mutters to sleep...." That should help I think.

let me know dood, ill mail ya a few 30mil morphine ive got left over when they relocated my ulna nerve in my elbow ( they actually removed a tumor but i use the ulna nerve thing when asked about the 20 inch scar on my arm ) but beware, these are potent, make sure your to do list is cleared for like 24-36 hours after taking these, they are timed release and very very good. just say the word.

So off i went to the doctors office. First thing that irked me was that their scale weighed me in at 282. NO FREAKING WAY! I was 287 a month ago and there is no way I have just lost 5lbs. Ok so the doc comes in and basically just sits there and looks at my foot writes me a script for vicodin and says to go to a foot doc or an ortho. LOL I just give up.

oh brother.....first off....I know what you mean about the scale....I hate that about the drs office...I always have to take off any layers and my shoes...and I can feel the nurse rolling her eyes behind me...she should consider herself lucky I don't strip to my birthday suit...you know those panties are pretty heavy!!!!!Is there still no other sleep aid you could use???The melatonin is very easy on the system...a drug induced sleep can't be healthy...are you going to the ortho???Has the place that gave you the surgery called you back????

Their scale is off. I weigh about 265-262 right now. Right now I plan to use the vicodin if needed to sleep this morning there is little pain just a bit of stiffness and some joint pain. My wife is trying to see if there is a ortho of piodiarist (sp) open later than 3pm. Yes the Docs office for the surgery called back at 3 yesterday I am ok to take the med for gout which I have and I am happy beyond words to say the left foot is almost back to a normal state for me which in gout terms is slightly inflamed and pain at level 1-2. The right foot seems to be better since i started to take the meds for gout. SO.....I am so hoping that is the case.

Just wanted to say thanks to all of you that have posted words of encouragment. While the recovery so far has not been to bad I did truly need the support when it was given and for that I thank each and everyone. That is what makes this place so important to me.:love:

Thanks major update: I started taking my gout meds two days ago. Since then the left foot (normally the one hurting) has lost its gout pain. ALSO even more exciting news is the right foot while a bit swollen has losts 90% of its pain and I have about 80% mobility! Big Big improvement from tuesday till today. On another note I went to a store cause all my jeans are size 50 and literally fall off of me. I am now offically in a 46! I have not fit into that size in over 10 years!

Ok advice. On sept 18th the doc said to wait for 3 more weeks before lifting...outside of my feet I feel great. Question is this weekend to soon to do light lifting, like KC and Fly and others do (just kidding you guys) ok to start? I feel like a few bench press and curls etc should not hurt me.

Mutt, I'm so happy that your feetsies are feeling better! And, I feel that if you think you can handle a few light presses, then try it. If you start to feel anything un-normal though, stop and take a rest.

Foot is much better. i did my first real workout in over a month. I did the following:
Bench (bar only0 45x12 95x10 115x10 135x10 155x10
Incline 95x10 115x10 135x9
Incline fly 25x10 35x10

Dumbell curls 25x10 30x10 35x10
Barbell curls (bar only) 45x10 55x10 65x10 75x10
EZ curl bar 30x10 50x10

Highlights: I felt Great! A little sore right now but felt great to get back in the gym so to speak. I def could have hit more on flat bench but held back for safty sake.

Lowlights: I was weak as hell.

I have not asked him yet I go see him on the 17th. I will ask then. Not totaly sure he will know what I am talking about. Did not do cardio. One reason is my son Alex is sick, so far bad sore Throat, maybe be strep, took him to the doc yesterday but it was neg for that. Could be Hand/foot/mouth disease a nasty thing where kids get canker type sores in the mouth and on hands and feet with high fevers. God I hope not!

You know it is so funny how I think about my boys. I mean both are pretty healthy for the most part, yet when Alex gets sick I worry way way more than when Joey does. I guess it is because we almost lost Alex at birth, and how hard it was getting pregnant with him to begin with. Add in how tiny weight wise in comparison to Joey and I still think Alex is less hardy than Joe. I just hate seeing either one hurt or sick. Most illness you can give them childrens advil etc, but with Alex he has a HUGE gae reflex, and pukes a lot when his throat hurts and he has to take liquid meds. I am so praying he is better soon!

I'm the same way...I worry more when my son is ill...he was so sick as a baby...especially with the fevers...he'd run them at deadly levels...he would go down for a nap fine, then wake up just on fire...you could smell his skin ,almost like a burning smell..we'd have to throw him in the tub and wait for the ambulance...very scarey...my daughter was really bad with meds..she always threw them up..after we had her tonsils out though it's not such a problem...they were HUGE...don't know if it's coincidence or not.But they'll be OK...kids are tough.

Yup, I had the same problem with my eldest. She ran high fevers all the time. I figured I pretty much owned the Tylenol company with the amount she went thru. Then, just as we were getting used to the fact that she seemed to run these fevers for no apparent reason, she ended up with meningitis, we almost lost her. Scariest thing I've ever experienced! On the up side...and yes there is always an up side...she rarely ever gets sick now. She got the flu this past weekend, but it's the first time she's been sick in about 5 years! It does get easier as the kids get older, for sure!!! I honestly can't remember the last time I had to take the kids to the Dr and when they were small we practically lived there!

Thats amazing...same with my son...they tested him for meningitis at 2 months old...but it was negative...they said his body just didn't know how to regulate itself and he would grow out of it...and he did after almost 2 years...but he's the same he is rarely sick...all those fevers must have done something...strange.

Me too. Alex is sick but seemed better this morning.
Well I have lost almost 3 inches from my thighs, 1.5 inches from my neck, 2.5 inches from my chest.

I did a back and tricep workout last night went well. I dead lifted 205x5 and stopped. Felt a little "pull" on my left side near a incision area so it freaked me out but I was on pace to hit 225x8. I feel great, took a vicodin last night casue the deads tweaked my right ankle a bit LOL still a bit sore in the tendon area. All in all it was a good workout. Tonight if it is not raining I plan to go for a walk, or maybe to the Y and get on the treadmill not sure.

You better watch it with that vicodin....thats strong stuff...if you have to take a narcotic because you hurt yourself in a workout...I think you are doing to much in your workout...just my opinion...and I only say so 'cause I care...so no gettin in a huffy...:)

Or maybe if you tweek something and need to relax it try taking only a half of a vicodin, and see if thats enough to soothe it but not enough to conk you out. :)

Thanks mushie. Well folks here is an interesting tidbit about my surgery. About two weeks after it I found out I am cold. Not just feeling cool, but actually cold. I was before the surgery a man that could go out in Janurary in the snow in my bare feet, with just a t-shirt and shorts on and shovel snow. I usualy wore shorts and muscle shirts all year in the house. Rarely did I wear anything heavier unless I was just sitting. Now if it is under 70 I am in pants and long sleeves. At work i am so cold I wear a fleece jacket and have a small little electrical heater under my desk. Now mind you I was hoping to feel less hot as in the summers I pretty much cooked within my skin all summer. Once I heated up I simply had so much fat I could not cool off easily. I am not sure though if I like being cold most of the time.

Last night 1.5 hours pushing double stroller with 75+lbs in it, running after 4yr old and 2 year old, each running different directions= my cardio for yesterday.

On another note, went to Old Navy while at the Mall. I am offically into an XL shirt! You have no idea how HUGE this is for me. The last time I fit into that was well over 10-15 years ago. The t-shirts are a bit tight for me but in 2 weeks will fit fine. Last night during Lost, I cleaned out the closet and dresser. End result was 6 huge garbage bags of clothes dropped off to charity. Hope some big guy can use them. I feel so incredible right now. Tonight I am in the GYM, I have to go as I want to do seated presses and I can not in my basement.
