Hey all it is Sunday night and I am home. All went well I guess. I came out of surgery but had back spasms from 1pm friday after noon till 3pm saturday. Morphine stopped working and if it had not been for m wife there and my Mom fighting to get new pain meds I would have lost it. Anyway after tht all is much better. I have lost 13lbs already. Well going o go sit down bye for now

I am feeling a lot better each day. Using less pain meds too. My back is still spasming a bit so I use a heating pad and lay down. Went for my first walk about a half mile. Felt dizzy during it but all in all felt good.

That is awesome progress Scott! Don't be in such a hurry to do so though, give your body the rest it needs so it can heal properly. :)

Had a very bad day yesterday. I knew that these days were coming. Very dizzy and low energy all day. Lashed out at everyone, even my boys. I know it is my body geting adjusted to the limited food I can eat for the next week. I cried, I fumed, thought about getting the surgery reversed, hated my wife, felt I made a HUGE mistake. THen I get up and I am way better LOL go figure.

You will pull through it my man! Don't forget what your body was put through during the surgery. It takes a few weeks to get all the foreign matter, as well as you feeling anxious. Hang in there your going through big changes.

Yesterday felt good. I had stopped all pain meds and fetl good. Then last night came. The night before I had been up late just could not fall alseep I thought it was becase of a nap. Yesterday i did not take a nap and was up till 2 am. I finally broke down and took 2 pian pills and passed out, I only took then as by this point my back was tight and painfull, that worked as I did not wake till 8am. I got up then to see my oldest son Alex off to school, then took a 2 hour nap later. I am worried that I will need to do the same tonight.

It takes a while for the anesthetic (sp) to leave your system completely. The tiredness will last up till at least a week. Don't fight it, as this will only stress you more and slow down the healing. Sleep well my friend!

Have you considred something easier on your system to help you sleep? If the pain isn't to bad maybe some tylenol PM...or some of that sleepy tea if you're just having trouble falling asleep???I know I'm a grumpy old bear if i don't get enough sleep....I have to sleep at least 9 hours to function.Did your wife have these problems too???How did she deal with it...that's one of the things you have going for you...you know someone who has been through it!!

Hnag in there Mutt. Keep in mind the trauma your system has been through and focus on your future goals. Don't be reluctant to use your pain medication - there is nothing wrong with it and you need sleep to heal and feel better.

I am sure your family understands that you are cranky because you don't feel good.

This too shall pass.

NO it is getting better. i watched the boys all day sunday and only at the end did I want to beat them (just kidding). I am cranky still but not as bad. I do not get hungry like I used to but if I do nto eat every 1.5-2 hours I get a bit light headed.

Thanks Mike doing as best as i can. While I know rapid weight loss is a goal of the surgery I am hoping to go a bit slower, to lessen muscle loss.

Good for you Mutt, but listen to your body and don't push things too far too fast. I've had some surgery in the past and because I felt Ok, I went ahead with my normal routine....boy did I pay for it later, laid me up for an extra 3 weeks!

I am trust me. I am going slow the pace last night was about 50rpm not my normal 64. I felt good a bit winded but good. I will most likly wait till tomorrow to go. I think that is the best way to do it right now. It was hard to go in there and not lift weights so contrary to my nature. I saw my "boys" in there squatting and benching and whatnot and had a very hard time walking out.

The last few days I have been feeling down and now it has turned into a depression of sorts. I am tired and achy all over and just want to sleep all day. Work is pure torture as I can hardly finish the day awake. I am getting about 8-8.5 hrs of sleep. My wife says this is natural and I need to get pass this week, but it is hard to keep moving on.
